Teachers and attendance officers
Attendance
Before you start: Learners must be enrolled in a class and the chosen date must match the school calendar.
Open AttendanceActions depend on your school’s enabled modules, your permissions and the record’s current status.
Find your way around
Class register · Individual learner · Follow-ups · Reports. Select these tabs inside the module; scroll the tab row sideways on a phone.

1. Take and submit a register
- Open Attendance → Class register and select the class and school day.
- Review the roster before marking; choose each learner’s attendance status and add required notes.
- Review absences and late marks, then save any draft changes using the register’s save control.
- Select Submit register and confirm Submit.
- Check that the register status and attendance totals update.
What to check: The register is submitted for the selected class and date. Save or discard pending changes before leaving or switching schools.
2. Excuse an absence and review history
- Find the absent learner in the register or Individual learner view.
- Open the excuse action and choose the reason.
- Add a note and any supporting information, then select Excuse absence.
- Open Individual learner and verify the date and revised mark.
What to check: The absence carries its recorded explanation; the learner’s history reflects the update.
3. Follow up unexplained absences
- Open Follow-ups and select the class or filters needed.
- Review the learner and absence dates.
- Contact the family using the school’s agreed process.
- Enter What was done and select Mark followed up.
- Check that the item leaves the outstanding queue or shows the completed follow-up.
What to check: The school has a record of the contact and its outcome.
4. Review reports and lock a register
- Open Reports, choose the class and date scope, and inspect attendance patterns.
- Return to the completed register and verify that corrections are finished.
- Use Lock register and confirm Lock if you have permission.
- For a later correction, ask the authorised officer to follow the school’s unlock process; do not create another register for the same day.
What to check: The locked register prevents ordinary edits and retains the submitted record.
