Find your way around
Markbook · Assessment schemes · Report cards · Class analytics · Comment bank. Select these tabs inside the module; scroll the tab row sideways on a phone.

1. Configure assessment schemes
- Open Assessment schemes and create a scheme for the subject and grade.
- Add components, maximum marks and weights.
- Check that the weights form the intended total before Create scheme.
- Use Copy only for subjects with the same assessment structure, then review the copies.
What to check: The markbook has the intended grading components and weighting.
2. Enter marks and inspect analytics
- Open Markbook and select the class, subject and term.
- Enter marks within each component’s maximum and review the calculated totals.
- Save; for CSV imports use the provided export/template and verify learner identifiers.
- Review parent visibility controls for components where available.
- Open Class analytics to check coverage and unusual results.
What to check: Saved marks and weighted results match the selected scheme and visibility settings.
3. Generate and approve report cards
- Open Report cards and select Generate report cards.
- Choose the class and term, then Generate.
- Open each card, review marks and add subject or general comments; Comment bank can provide reusable wording.
- Save changes and Submit for approval.
- An authorised reviewer checks the card and selects Approve.
What to check: Report cards are approved but not necessarily released to families.
4. Release, troubleshoot holds and recall
- Select the approved card or reviewed group of cards and choose Release.
- Review release results for cards held by fee controls or other validation.
- Resolve legitimate holds through Fees → Controls and the school’s approval process; do not silently override policy.
- Confirm Release to parents for eligible cards and verify visibility in the parent workflow.
- Use Recall with a reason when a released card needs authorised correction.
What to check: Only successfully released cards become available to parents; the release result identifies exceptions.
